Es indudable que cuando buscamos un explorador queremos aparte que sea muy rapido (despliegue de ventanas, imagenes) que sea tambien poderoso (capaz de ver todo tipo de contenido web, incluso los no estandard, objetos embebidos, etc), no voy a decir que son caracteristicas que se oponen una contra otra, donde en ambos extremos solo es posible conseguir una plenamente. Los programadores de navegadores tienen la dificil tarea de balacear esto de modo que el usuario no experimente muchos retrazos.
Personalmente yo empece usando netscape...se acuerdan?...bueno...luego pase a usar opera (1999 creo) al cual le fui fiel por muchos muchos años por dos razones: navegacion con tabs y bloqueo de imagenes (odiaba los banners). Cuando salio IE6 deje el opera porque me parecia que los chicos de M$ se habian lucido aqui en rapidez, pero lleno de huecos de seguridad, pero con el SP1 andaba todo de maravilla, no duro mucho esto. Hace unos años descubri el Firefox y sus famosas extensiones y he quedado totalmente enamorado, es mi navegador preferido (me gusto volver a usar los tabs). A pesar que es un poco mas lentito en el arranque en comparacion con IE6 no me importa, son las extensiones de Firefox las que lo hacen estupendo: puedes bloquear publicidad, banners, scritps java, js, descargar embebidos como los video de youtube, revisar si tienes correo, manejar sindicalizacion, etc, etc,etc.
Un reporte tecnico al detalle lo encontramos aqui de las versiones beta, pero muestra una realidad que estoy seguro no cambiara en la versiones finales que ya estan disponibles.
Ya salio IE7, esta la lista del windows update, lo analizo en base a mi historia, ¿tabs?, yo siempre navege con tabs, esto no trajo nada nuevo para mi, ¿adds-on?, siempre las tuve con las extensiones firefox y sobre todo gratis porque los add-ons de IE7 son de pago $$, ¿rss?, nunca me faltaron en firefox. Entonces la respuesta para mi es clara FireFOX 2. Derrepente estos dias lo instalo para ver cuantos huecos nuevos me hace :P.
Por ejemplo a ella le encanta usar el Firefox 2.
Como siempre tengo pensamientos impuros, encontre el Opera 9, es una belleza, me estoy sacando una canita al aire con ese navegador ¡¡es un formula uno!!!, tal como dice el reporte de extremtech, no se que diablos han hecho los programadores ES UNA BALA!!!, recomiendo altamente que lo instalen como alternativa a sus navegadores, a su lado el firefox o el IE7 son tortuguitas.

Yo empecé con IE y desde que descubrí Firefox estoy totalmente enganchado a este navegador (tanto que incluso tengo un pequeño blog sobre sus extensiones).
